The Magic Fountain

At the base of Montjuic, a gigantic fountain plays host to a musical/light/water acrobatics show every Friday and Saturday evening every 30 minutes for 2 hours.  Someone told me to go see it, and it was even more spectacular than I imagined!  This tourist attraction is a product of the 1929 Universal Exhibition.

Here's what the fountain looked like before sunset, sans water and light:

Long exposure just for fun
We stayed for 2 shows, and the first consisted of a Disney Medley!  Of course all the songs were in Spanish... it was a little disappointing to not hear Angela Lansbury's voice in "A Tale as Old As Time".  But I liked the chorus of "Debajo del Mar" ("Under the Sea").
For the second show, we moved around to the other side of the fountain to get a better view.  By this time, it was almost completely dark.  Instead of Disney tunes, the second medley was classical music.

And some more fountain

Full moon!
Here are two videos I took from the second medley we saw.

  1. Love those videos!
this blog is becoming quite a travelogue through Spain.
I always said you could find 3 things in every city on the planet: coca-cola, Chinese food, and Walt Disney. Touchee.

  2. Love the photos and video. It's like the 4th of July but with wet fireworks (sort of).
